Dr. Katharine Andre:

I’m one of those vets who always wanted to be a vet.  I grew up in the Midwest with three sisters and assorted pets: dogs, cats, the mice from school who came home for the summer as a couple and returned as a multitude, even a tank of silkworms that kept all of us busy one summer defoliating every mulberry tree on the block.  Those worms made so much noise chewing that we had to keep them in the garage!

At Kansas State University, I became involved in wildlife rehabilitation, raising ferrets, and working for a crisis intervention hotline.  The crisis management skills I learned at the hotline came in very handy the time I brought 15 baby raccoons home for my parents to “coon-sit” for a week, and the time one of my ferrets latched onto my mother’s hand and would not let go.  My family deserves a medal for putting up with me and my four-legged companions.

I graduated from KSU in May 1986, and fled the Midwest with 200 pounds of dogs in a mini-pick-up.  New Jersey here we come.  I was fortunate to be hired in a very busy five doctor practice with a lot of team effort and supervision-a wonderful environment for learning what they failed to mention in vet school.  One of the great people I met there is a board certified surgeon from Australia.  Working with him gave me far more experience and ability in surgery than I could have found elsewhere.  I also worked with a wonderful technician- Colleen.  She has since become a wonderful vet and I am happy to have her in my practice.  I spent a total of ten years in New Jersey before I overdosed on east coast humidity and Phoenix beckoned.  Currently I share a home with four french bulldogs, 4 cats, a turtle, and a few ponds with beautiful coy fish.  I feel very lucky to be doing what I love, loving what I do, and slowly but surely making strides to make Bethany Animal Hospital into all I dream it can be.

Dr. Colleen Salmon:

I am the quintessential Jersey Girl.  I grew up in New Jersey, and it is there I discovered my passion for veterinary medicine.  I graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2000, but I have been working in veterinary hospitals for the past eighteen years.  I knew I wanted to be a vet from the time I was ten years old, and I feel blessed that I have a career doing what I love by helping pets and their people.  I love internal and preventative medicine and I feel lucky to work here at Bethany Animal Hospital with Dr. Andre and her wonderful staff.  Dr. Andre and I have known each other for the past 13 years and we make a great team!  I currently live in a house with my cat and my two dogs, all of whom I adopted from St. Kitts while I was in vet school.  I loved the island and hated the bugs!

Marci May CVT, Hospital Manager:

I have been in the veterinary field for over 15 years and graduated from The Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 2002.  I have been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2003 and managing here since February 2008.  I absolutely love what I do and where I work and I am so lucky to work with the doctors and staff at such a wonderful place.  We have such a great team of compassionate, educated and knowledgeable technicians, assistants, and receptionists that truly love having the opportunity to care for pets at all stages of life.  Getting to watch your pets grow, as well as watching the bond between the pet and family grow throughout the years is something so amazing.  At my house I have two dogs, Dori and Kazi, and three cats, Nani, Leeloo, and Tugger. My love for animals is something that I am so happy to pass down to my son, Christopher, who is 4 now, but one of his first words was puppy! I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members!!

Jennifer:

I began my career at Bethany Animal Hospital in June of 1998 after graduating a technician assistant program and I still love working in the field, as well as here at Bethany after all these years!  Since that time I have become Dr. Andre’s right hand woman in surgery.  I have quite a few pets of my own:  I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 ferrets, a tortoise, and some fish.  I look forward to helping in the care of your pets!

My name is Jolinda and I am a Veterinary Technician. I’ve been in the field for over 6 years and have been here at Bethany for almost 4 years. Working here has been a blast and everyday I learn something new!! I have one cat named Samgol Maganya.

Ashley:

I started working here as a customer care representative and that was just the beginning of my career here at Bethany. After a few years, I realized the veterinary field is where I want to be and am now being trained as a veterinary technician assistant. I want to go to an accredited veterinary technician program so that I can become a Certified Veterinary Technician. I look forward to meeting you and to assist in the care of your furry family members!!

Christina:

I am a Veterinary Technician Assistant and I’ve worked her for over 3 years. I currently have 6 cats, a baby box turtle, some fish, and 3 Leopard Geckos at home. I want to go to school to become a Certified Veterinary Technician and will hopefully be starting school in the near future. I have always loved animals and now I get to work with animals for a living. I look forward to meeting and caring for each of your pets!
